Settle Down 03:18
LYRICS: On a train ride This box car takes forever Another stop here in wherever all these other people go It was a good time playing in The City But something here within me just can't wait to get on home When you're on my mind and I'm on the roam I know I'll never be alone You are the reason why I'm coming back around You make me want to settle down Hotel windows and living from a suitcase I like the folks in this place, sure do miss the ones back home Miles of highways or something more familiar I don't remember what the words were but they always bring me home When you're on my mind and I'm on the roam I know I'll never be alone You are the reason why I'm coming back around You make me want to settle down Oh, just another hundred mile to the border line then we got all this time Oh, just another few more hours until the day When you're on my mind and I'm on the roam I know I'll never be alone You are the reason why I'm coming back around You make me want to settle down

LYRICS: You're caught up in a moment when you realize everything that you wanted was a lie after all this time Walls and walls that fill your head, circling around you spin When the daylight comes there's a new way to begin For all of the times that you tried You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down Let go of hesitation when the absolute of love is on your side I swear that you'll be fine And I know it's not that easy And it damn well feels insane when you have to start yourself over again For all of the times that you tried You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down All you wanted was a life and love and time to find the real ones on your side For all of the times that you tried You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down You can tell who the real ones are, they won't let you down
3.
LYRICS: Rattle your sabers and shout your cursing words When it doesn't cut your skin, then it doesn't really hurt There is no compromise if it's outside your belief You're so courageous when you take away from me So whose America are you wanting it to be? Whose America do you think that it should be? Go ahead and build your wall to keep the brown ones out Keep your institutions up to keep the black ones down Jesus must be crying when we're helping out the gays And those with different gods must be put back in their place So whose America are you wanting it to be? Whose America do you think that it should be? White wash in your desperation Coloring is infestation When you take this obligation to degrees of separation Learn to love instead of hating But you'll just continue waiting for something that's never changing Whose America is this? As long as it's someone else, then there's no pain to be felt Celebrate your victory that's another person's Hell Don't you dare be reaching out to lend someone a hand When it's just a bastard son from some foreign land So whose America are you wanting it to be? Whose America do you think that it should be?

Politician 04:01
LYRICS: Press me, impress me with your big shiny... with your big shiny, slick and loaded run You’ve got the answers We got the cancers So power hungry, you could eat the sun Keep on waving, smile with a pretty face We’ll prop you up when you’re falling down and get you to your place Hey man, what can you do for me? Does money make you listen? To get my vote you’d say anything You’re just another politician Your love of Jesus, it runs in seasons Only on Sundays you believe in God See, I’m a poor man They closed my factory I pray for money with my bootstraps up Keep on waving, smile with a pretty face I’m sure these suckers will hold you up and get you to your place Hey man, what can you do for me? Does money make you listen? To get my vote you’d say anything You’re just another politician Feed me your lines Sell me your lies Baby, it’s all for show Hey man, what can you do for me? Does money make you listen? To get my vote you’d say anything You’re just another politician You’re just another politician You’re just another politician
5.
LYRICS: Mother, you don’t know me but I’m wishing you some peace This day has left you lonely and in a time of need for someone to comfort you and listen to the words that you speak When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories Father, I’m a stranger but I recognize your pain And there is nothing short of anger when the scene plays out again Another world of sadness fills your heart The tears are on your face When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories How many times should children lose their fathers? How many times can we do this to one another? I don’t pray to Jesus, but I pray we love each other because we can, because we can People, I’m your neighbor and so you are mine And how we treat each other is defining of our time I don’t have the answers to all the world’s questions but someone said to me When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories When all your hope is gone just keep holding on to sweet memories With all that’s come and gone just keep holding on to sweet memories With all that’s come and gone we shall overcome with sweet memories

about

"East Rock" is a year long project for 2016 where I intend to write and record songs out of my house and neighborhood in New Haven. There will be a new song each month, and I will be playing every instrument on each song. "East Rock" is a play on words - I live in the East Rock section of New Haven, and the music is "rock" from the "east coast."
